Linda Ruth (Sloan) Fizer
October 1, 1944 ~ February 7, 2025 (age 80)
Linda Ruth Sloan Fizer was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Robertson County, the daughter of Sarah Johnson and Ben Sloan. She was a member of the Springfield High School Class of 1962. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, and her Master’s degree from Austin Peay State University. She gained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Nashville School of Law in 1980, graduating in the upper five percent of her class.
Professionally, she served as a Business Education Instructor at Cheatham County High School for 24 years. She also served as the Cheatham County Executive for 8 years where her visions helped bring the county forward into the 21st century. In 1980, Mrs. Fizer opened her own law practice and became the first woman to open a private practice law firm in Cheatham County. In 1998 she moved her law office from Ashland City to Springfield.
She held professional memberships in the Robertson County and Tennessee Bar Associations and The Roberson County Career Women’s Association as well as being active in her community.
A great visionary, she initiated and served on the first Board of Trustees of Leadership Cheatham County and initiated and served on the first Board of the Cheatham County Education Foundation and was honored for her many great achievements. Mrs. Fizer was named the 1996 Outstanding Woman of the Century for Cheatham County. She was also named Career Woman of the Year by the Robertson County Career Woman’s Association in 2002.
Mrs. Fizer was an advocate for children and Women’s rights. If anyone needed her help or advice, she was there rooting for them and helping in any way that she could. If she was on your team, she was on it! She exhibited compassion and unconditional love to those that needed it. She was kind.
In her spare time, she loved going to TPAC, movie days, going to bicycle races, hanging out by the pool, traveling, and she loved flowers.
Although Mrs. Fizer was recognized as a well-accomplished civic and public servant, she felt that her greatest achievement was that of wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and finally, great-grandmother.
She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Anthony L. Fizer (Amp), and brothers, Robert Sloan, Don Sloan and sister-in-law Susie Sloan of Springfield, her two children, twin firecrackers, Jeffrey S. Fizer and his wife, Claudette, and Tammy Fizer Wemyss and her husband, Bill, and grandchildren, Emily and Ben Fizer, Eli Wemyss, great-grandchildren, Cadence Eversoll, Rori and Emery Beckel, several nieces and nephews, as well as her precious cat, Lucy.
Mrs. Fizer passed from this life on Friday February 7, 2025, at her home. A visitation with the family was held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Robertson County Funeral Home.
The family wants to thank Tennova Hospice out of Clarksville for their help during Mrs. Fizer’s brief illness.

Barbara (Spicer) West
October 15, 1946 ~ February 7, 2025 (age 78)
Barbara Frances Spicer West, 78, of Springfield, passed from this life on Friday February 7, 2025, at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday February 13th at 1:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Jeff Dean, Austin Dean, Chris Osborne, Greyson Osborne, Flynt Grayson, and Thomas Powell serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Barbara was born October 15, 1946, in Crestline, OH, to the late D.L. and Anna Laura Baird Spicer. She was a retired cafeteria manager from Springfield High School and was a member of North Springfield Baptist Church. Barbara loved cooking and being outside mowing her yard and working in her flower garden. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Tina West, and by her son: Chase West. Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years: Ronnie West of Springfield, by her daughters: Tanya West Powell and husband Thomas, Trixie West Dean and husband Jeff, and Tracy West Smith all of Springfield, by her grandchildren: Ashley (Chris) Osborne, Austin (Chelsea) Dean, Autumn (Flynt) Grayson, Addy Pratt, Weston Smith, Lilly Smith, and Taylor (Dillon) Sons, by her seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, and by her brother: Leonard Spicer of Springfield.

Phillip Lewis Clinard
February 8, 1949 ~ February 11, 2025 (age 76)
Phillip Lewis Clinard, age 76 of Cross Plains, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Matthew Honeycutt and Scott Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery with Brandon Miller, Scott Owen, Kevin Houston, Jacob Clinard, Chris Smith, and Brad Keith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin Clinard, Phillip Smith, Brice Miller, Titus Owen, Yuri Burk, Logan Miller, Braylen Drury, Roman Smith, and Beckett Houston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM and Friday from 10 AM until the time of service.
Mr. Clinard was born February 8, 1949 in Springfield to the late William Wallace and Bonnie Pauline Bush Clinard. He was of the Baptist faith, a veteran of the United States Army, and a retired truck driver with J-Hawk. He loved his family and especially the Sunday afternoon family dinners. He was known as the family GPS and sent texts to them every morning. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, and watching his grandson Brandon at the race track. He was also an avid Texas Longhorns fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jase and Luke Miller, and two brothers, Wallace and Johnny Clinard.
Surviving him are his wife of almost 55 years, Rose Clinard of Cross Plains; son, Phillip Matthew (Terri Lee) Clinard of Springfield; daughters, Stacy (John) Brooks of Springfield and Stephanie Houston of Cross Plains; brothers, Paul (Rita) Clinard and Buddy Clinard all of Cross Plains; sister, Bonnie Smith of Cross Plains; grandchildren, Brandon (Kyra) Miller, Katlyn (Scott) Owen, Valinda (Zach) Burk, Kevin Houston, Jacob (Krissy) Clinard, Gavin Clinard, and Rylie Clinard; and 15 great grandchildren.

Martha (Mattox) Montgomery Farmer
November 21, 1939 ~ February 13, 2025 (age 85)
Martha Montgomery Farmer, age 85 of Springfield, passed from this life on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at The Arbors at Springfield Heights. Her wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be conducted Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service. Her cremains will be buried at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland.
Mrs. Martha was born November 21, 1939 in Nashville to the late Gaither and Daisy Louise Shepherd Mattox. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield and was a retired branch manager for First American Bank. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and loved to travel when she was able and had an outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger. She also enjoyed cooking and was very welcoming to others. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Haskell Montgomery, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Montgomery.
Surviving her are her husband, Jerry Farmer of Springfield; children, Terry Montgomery (Terry Mason) of Lebanon, Berenda Montgomery Buzzell of Springfield, Melinda Montgomery Kelley of Shelbyville, and Michael Montgomery of Goodlettsville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Searcy, Tara Mehrtens, Chris (Shea) Glover, Justin (Kim) Boguskie, Brandon Ross, Nick Buzzell, Daniel Buzzell, and Christopher Montgomery; great grandchildren, Kayla Searcy, Carson Searcy, Gage Boguskie, Jaden Boguskie, Kailey Glover, Kaiden Glover, Kinley Glover, Landon Mehrtens, Cameron Mehrtens, Christian Mehrtens, Brailynn Ross, Rian Ross, and Reagan Ross; brother Gerald (Paticia) Mattox of Madison; and niece, Michelle Mattox.

Carol Ann Huddleston McKinney, age 90 of Adairville, KY, passed from this life on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Bowling Green Medical Center. Mr. McKinney was born March 25, 1934 in Wayne County, KY to the late Oswald M. and Ona Blanche Sutton Huddleston. She was a member of Adairville United Methodist Church and was a former branch manager of the Logan County Library. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Ray McKinney; a son, Timothy Ray McKinney; daughters, Emily Cathleen McKinney and Kelly Ann McKinney; and sisters, Dorothy Alice Haston and Blanche M. Davis.
Surviving her are sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Becky McKinney of Russellville, KY and George Michael McKinney of Central City, KY; grandchildren, Andrew Morgan McKinny (Jade Smith) of Russellville, KY and Patrick Clay McKinney of Bowling Green, KY; and four great grandchildren.

Richard Harland Frank
September 17, 1935 — February 12, 2025
Nashville, TN
Richard Harland Frank, age 89, of Nashville, TN passed away at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Health on February 12th, 2025. He was born in Appleton, WI on September 17th, 2025, to the late Ted and Marie Frank. He is reunited in heaven with his first wife Lavadia Brown Frank and his second wife Linda Nicely, as well as his brother Theodore Alfred Frank. He is survived by his children Richard (Pamela) Frank, Robert (Suzanne) Frank, and Leah Frank, his stepchildren April (Richard) Keen and Melody Nicely. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and four great grandchildren who will remember him fondly.
Richard was a man of strong Christian faith. He enjoyed going to services and was a Deacon at Shelby Baptist Church for many years. He was a long-time member, attending services until he was no longer able.
Richard’s personality was a blend of sternness and gentleness; he possessed an ability to command a room with just a look. Despite his serious demeanor, he was never one to complain, consistently prioritizing the needs of his family above his own. His approachable and easygoing nature made him a beloved companion among friends and acquaintances alike.
A proud veteran, Richard served eight years in the Air Force during the Korean War, a commitment that reflected his dedication to his country. This experience added depth to his character and appreciation for the life he built post-service.
A lover of humor and companionship, he enjoyed cutting jokes and relished moments of fun with those around him. His affection for animals was well known, and he found joy in their presence. In quieter moments, he could often be found watching his favorite television show, The Curse of Oak Island, a testament to his penchant for exploration and discovery, even from the comfort of his home.
Richard Harland Frank leaves behind a legacy of artistry, dedication, and warmth that will be remembered by all who knew him. His life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Connie Marie DeLosh Williams

Connie Marie DeLosh Williams, born on September 28,1945, in Portland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee in Nashville, Connie devoted her life to education, demonstrating her passion for teaching throughout her illustrious career. She began her journey in education as a student teacher at White House High School and continued to inspire young minds at Springfield Middle School for three years. Following that, she dedicated 25 years of her life to East Robertson High School, where she was rightfully recognized as Teacher of the Year for Robertson County. Her approach to teaching was characterized by her dedication, straightforwardness, and her ability to encourage her students, traits that made her not just an educator, but a mentor and a friend to many.
Connie was also a woman of deep faith. She was saved and baptized at the age of 12 at Portland First Baptist Church. Her faith continued to be an integral part of her life, as she was a member of Highland Chapel Union Church for five years, and to her attendance at Temple Baptist Church.
Beyond her career, Connie had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She was passionate about quilting and flower gardening, and she loved traveling to the mountains – activities that conveyed her creativity and appreciation for the beauty around her.
Connie’s most cherished accomplishments include marrying her high school sweetheart, Mr. Billy Williams, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story began when she was a sophomore and he was a senior at Madison High School, with her father, Mr. Harry DeLosh, as Billy’s football coach. Together, they built a beautiful family. Connie took great pride in her role as a grandmother, affectionately known as “Granny” to her grandchildren: Brandon, Elizabeth, Caleb, Jacob, and Mackenzie, as well as her great-grandchild, Jaxon.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Billy Williams; her children, Dan (Teresa) Williams and Becky (Mark) Jenkins; her grandchildren; her great-grandchild; her sister, Terry Hantzis; and her cousins, Daryl Cooper and Harry Harris.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Marie DeLosh.
In celebration of Connie’s remarkable life, visitation services will be held on February 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Cremation Services in White House, TN. A second visitation will take place on February 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Highland Chapel Union Church in Ridgetop, TN. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life service which will begin at 2:00 PM the same day at Highland Chapel Union Church, burial will follow at White House Memorial Gardens.
Connie Marie Williams will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her dedication to her family and students, and her genuine love for life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

Stephen “Steve” Doyle Gattis, age 69 of Greenbrier, Tennessee passed away, Friday, February 7, 2025 at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00PM-8:00PM, Thursday, February 27th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Tennessee.
Steve was born on June 19, 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Doyle & Dorothy Huddleston Gattis. He was an electrician. He loved fishing and NASCAR racing. Steve loved playing his guitar and listening to music, especially Elvis and often did impersonations of him. He was an avid Vanderbilt football and baseball fan and also loved the New York Yankees. He was just a simple man who loved life, his family, friends, and was a Christian.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittney (Chris) Raynes; brothers, Tom (Lisa) Gattis, Tim (Sue) Gattis, and Donnie (Lisa) Gattis; sister, Donna (Billy) Burton; and grandchildren, Harlee & Brantlee Raynes.

Gardner “Gary” Cox
February 3, 1948 – February 7, 2025
Gardner (Gary) Lawrence Cox of Pleasant View, Tennessee, passed away Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 3, 1948 in Buffalo, New York, son of Dr. Gardner Cox II and Helen Louse (Westbrook) Cox. After living in Maine and California while his father was on active duty, he grew up in Holyoke, Mass., attending public schools before graduating from Cardigan Mountain School and Charlemont High School.
He married Mary Ellen Moriarity of Holyoke in 1970.
Interested in all things mechanical, he graduated from Franklin Institute in Boston with an Associates’ degree in diesel engineering in 1970. He spent many years as a diesel design engineer for American Bosch, United Technologies, and a successor company, AMBAC Inc. in western Massachusetts, helping design diesel injection pumps for Mack, International Harvester, Caterpillar and Renault. Pumps he helped design for marine engines for Caterpillar have accumulated more than a million hours in operation without failures.
He later taught diesel mechanics at Lincoln Technical Institute in Connecticut, and after he and Ellen moved to Tennessee in 2007 to be closer to their granddaughters, at Nashville Auto Diesel College, where he won an award for teaching. He also designed and built custom diesel pumps for competitive truck pullers.
In 1975, he and Ellen built a log house on family land in Hawley, Mass in the Berkshires where they and their daughters lived for ten years until they moved to Agawam, Mass.
Gary always enjoyed working on cars, trucks, tractors and farm equipment his entire life. He was also very handy and enjoyed building. He built a family home, barn and garage in Hawley and a garage in Holyoke for his father. Gary was a loving family man with many friends and family in both Massachusetts and Tennessee. Gary will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Katherine Louise (Cox) Tangredi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen Cox (Moriarty), his brother Gregory Allen Cox of Hawley and sister Helen Louise Donahoe (Cox) of Holyoke, his daughter Mary Ellen Kosinski (Cox), son in-law Joseph F Kosinski II, and 3 granddaughters, Macy Elizabeth Kosinski, Mallory Erin Kosinski and Marla Emma Kosinski, all of Pleasant View.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 2-4 pm with a short memorial at 4 pm at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View. Anne Dare Brown Haynes, age 89, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Vantage Pointe Village Assisted Living in Ashland City. Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Thursday, February 13th, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Joe Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Jay Holman, Alan Holman, Andrew Larson, Edison Guthrie, Dee Goad, and Donnie King serving as pallbearers.

Ms. Haynes was born June 13, 1935, in Nashville, to the late James Woodard (J. W.) Brown II, and the late Sarah Elizabeth Holmes Brown. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a double major in Drama and Education, and worked as a Librarian with the Robertson County School System most of her life.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Haynes was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Brown Tune.
She is survived by her daughter, Allison Anne Haynes Holman; and 2 grandsons, Jerry David Holman Jr. ( Jay and Libby), and Alan Haynes Holman.

Mary Frances Warrick, age 69 of Greenbrier, Tennessee died Monday, February 10, 2025 at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tennessee.

Mary was born on May 16, 1955 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Albert & Dora Wilson Puckett Raymer. She loved everyone and could often be just as stubborn. She dedicated most of her life to helping others. She was a proud foster parent, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved the Lord, music, and reading. Mary would do anything for others and could be very firm in her opinion. She like to garden and loved life in the country.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, William Warrick, Jr.; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Warrick, Sr.; son, Thomas (Jessica) Warrick; brother, Jerry Raymer; sisters, Faye Norman, Darlene McNeil, and Patricia Watkins; grandchildren, Nathan Warrick, Amanda (Tony) Lavelle, Jasmine Warrick, Dalton Warrick, Isabella Warrick, Elena Warrick and David Warrick; and three great-grandchildren with one on the way.

John Brandon Hicks
July 23, 1986 – February 11, 2025
John Brandon Hicks, age 38 passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 11, 2025. He was born July 23, 1986 in Nashville, TN to Ricky Leon & Lori Diane Woods Hicks. He was employed as a dispatcher for Dell Computer in Mount Juliet. Brandon was a graduate of White House High School, where he was voted class President every year from 7th-12th grade. He loved listening to all kinds of music, traveling and visiting The Legends Barber Shop in Donelson.
He and his Dad would make an entire day outing getting their hair cut, visiting with their friends and having lunch. When he was able, he loved attending Zion’s Chapel Assembly of God. Marianne Dobrzynski Himes, age 84, of Nashville, formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Mrs. Himes’ wishes were to be cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.
Mrs. Himes was born October 7, 1940, in Newark, NJ, to the late Felix Dobrzynski and the late Catherine Lucjak Dobrzynski. She was raised Roman Catholic, and she worked as the Office Manager for an Insurance agency most of her life.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Himes was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen Himes.
She is survived by her son, Douglas (Jessica) Himes.

Larry Wayne Simmons
April 12, 1938 – February 14, 2025
Larry Wayne Simmons, age 86, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at White House Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday, February 18th, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Frank Kirby and Rev. Chris Seifert officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in White House with Wayne Reburn, David Crawley, Carey Fairless, Jamie Holloway, Matt Hughey, Larry Smith, Michael Vaughn, and Samuel Holloway serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2-7pm Monday, and again from 11am until time of the service at 2pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Simmons was born April 12, 1938, in Cross Plains, TN, to the late Gill and Lorraine Mason Simmons. He graduated from East Robertson High School and continued his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mr. Simmons served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps before beginning the study of law at the Nashville School of Law. He began an illustrious career as an Attorney in 1970, and served as the City Attorney for Adams, TN and the City Judge in Springfield, TN during his 46 year long law career. In addition to practicing law, he enjoyed farming on his family’s farm near White House. Mr. Simmons was a member of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the York Rite, the Kiwanis Club, and the Tennessee Bar Association.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Mary Evelyn Simmons; and a brother-in-law, Earl Keith.
He is survived by his sister, Margie Simmons Keith, of Springfield; nieces, Sheila Keith (Wayne) Reburn of Murfreesboro, and Sandra Keith (David) Crawley of Springfield; great-nephew, Jamie Holloway of Murfreesboro; great-nieces, Ashley Hughey and Brittany Smith of Murfreesboro, Alesia Vaughn and Emily Crawley of Springfield; and 9 great great nieces and nephews.

Linda Faye Moulton
December 23, 1942 – February 15, 2025
Linda Faye Heltsley Moulton, age 82, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025 at NHC Springfield. Graveside services will be conducted at 11am Wednesday, February 19th in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Bro. Barry Throneberry officiating.
Mrs. Moulton was born December 23, 1942, in Dunmor, KY to the late Thurman D. Heltsley and the late Ola Bell Hart Heltsley. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moulton was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy D. Moulton; and a brother, Don Heltsley.
She is survived by her sons, James Richard “Richie” Moulton, and Steven K. Moulton.
